Artisanship is a form of cultural and spiritual expression, as well as a livelihood for the Huichol. As with any art form, indigenous art often requires a lifetime of continual training and refinement. The Artisan Apprenticeship Program provides direct economic support to individuals and familial groups of artists in training. The economic assistance offsets the cost of the humble living conditions for artisans and offers options for familial assistance in cases where the artists family requires financial aid.
